Over the last 20-30 years, minimal invasive surgery (MIS) has expanded from its niche area to join the mainstream of most surgical specialities. In-fact MIS procedures have now become the preferred choice in gall bladder, colorectal, bariatric and gynaecologic surgeries. Surgical and nursing training in the 21st century would be incomplete without the formal teaching and structures guidance in the technique of MIS procedures. 

It is very well recognised that a complete and efficient surgical team is incomplete without a skilled nursing team member. This NMIS workshop serves as a platform for theatre nursing trainees to have their laparoscopy skills and procedures under guided supervision. 

At the end of the workshop, trainees will be able to set up and assist in laparoscopic procedures confidently. Equipment, instrument and safety guidelines will be covered.
