Endoscopy is a general term for procedures that involve inserting a long, thin tube with a camera into the body to examine internal organs. Endoscopy can be used to diagnose various conditions, including digestive disorders, cancer and other abnormalities.
There are two types of Endoscopy:
- Upper GI Endoscopy is a procedure that allows us to examine the upper part of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure can help diagnose ulcers, inflammation and tumors.
- Lower GI Endoscopy (sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy) allows us to examine the lower part of the digestive system, including the colon and rectum. This procedure can help diagnose polyps, tumors, cancer, and inflammation.
At 3rd Park Hospital, we understand that gastroenterological and endoscopic procedures can be intimidating. That’s why our team of professionals is dedicated to making the experience as comfortable as possible for our patients. We prioritize patient comfort and ensure our procedures are performed with the utmost care and attention to detail.
